personal object : a pair of shoes

I have recently graduated from the University of Sheffield where I had a fantastic three years. As a graduation gift my family treated me with some cash, which I decided to spend on a brand new pair of shoes. I wasn’t sure what shoes to buy as I usually tend to go for black with a thick heel. But this time I decided to venture into something new. I toured the JD store in Sheffield last week, and I came across this beautiful pair of grey Nike Air Force 1’s. Immediately I knew they were the pair I wanted. These shoes mean a lot to me because they remind me of the hard grind that was university and how I was able to pull through despite all the struggles.

chosen artwork : Rusty Mirage (The City Skyline)    Kiluanji Kia Hendra, 2013

I chose this artwork because of the different frames and the progression of the building. I liked how the artist had incorporated the use of people with the fake building structures. The idea of people in the frames, picking up pieces of buildings and putting them together is super cool.
