personal object : a false tooth

During 1995 I visited Germany on a school exchange. Unfortunately, I had an infection resulting in the extraction of my tooth. My teacher had to accompany me to the dentist to translate. As a result, when I returned home, I was given a false tooth on a plate. It signifies how influential and supportive teachers were in my life in particular Luceika Addison, my German teacher. When doing my ‘A’ Levels, Lorna Withy the Head of Sixth Form fished my tooth out of the toilet bowl after I was sick. Now, as a Deputy Head myself, I can only hope to be as influential and supportive as educators were in my own school life.

chosen artwork : Venus of the Rags    Michaelangelo Pistoletto, 1967/1974

My partner chose this work for me. Despite being highly organised professionally, at home I am a little chaotic – just like Venus of the Rags!
