from : Germany personal object : five agate stones I found these stones in a market. I was looking for some stones and the shop owner told me, “The right stone will find you.” I carry them in my purse. It is said that stones attract money. They are millions of years old, here long before us. They are little entities in themselves. Five is a magic number; they belong together and I notice if one of them is missing. chosen artwork : Late Morning Bridget Riley, 1967-68 I have often looked at Riley’s work in my own art practice. I can see connections between her paintings and the linear marks within these stones. The longer you look at the patterns in her work, the more they seem to move. The stones and Riley’s paintings seem to have an energy of their own. |
