Lorna

from : Warrington, UK

personal object : a satchel embossed with initials

When I was 20, I first moved away from home to London. I saved up on my very tight wage to buy this satchel bag I’d had my eye on for months. It’s starting to show a little wear and tear but that definitely adds character! Whenever I use it, it reminds me of being away from home for the first time.

chosen artwork : Industrial Landscape    L.S. Lowry, 1955

This painting resonates with me as it reminds me of where I grew up. The terraced houses with the factories in the background look like Warrington and, although it’s quite a dull image, the little people in the foreground, going about their daily routine, remind me of a place where I grew up and it gives me happy memories.
