personal object : a pair of earrings

One of my earrings, which my mother bought for me last winter is my treasured object. I really, really like wearing earrings every day and this one is the first earring she bought for me. I don’t know exactly why but, whenever I wear this earring, it always reminds me of my mother even though I’m not with her. I’m 22 years old and since I was 20 I have lived apart from my family. I am currently studying in the Netherlands as an exchange student. So, for 2 years, more or less, I have lived apart from my family and it has been quite a hard time - but whenever I wear this earring, I feel relieved and gain confidence :D   So far, this one is my favourite among all my earrings.

chosen artwork : No. VI / Composition No. II    Piet Mondrian, 1920

I have chosen this artwork because, firstly, Mondrian is an artist from the Netherlands, and I have studied in the Netherlands for 6 months as an exchange student. The exchange student experience was one of the best choices I have made in my whole life; I have enjoyed and learned so many things, travelling all around Europe for the first time. So, this Mondrian piece means a lot to me – it’s more than just an artwork - it reminds me of all my memories of the Netherlands! :D
