personal object : cornea, right eye

On a Tuesday night back in 2013, I woke up in pain; my right eye wasn’t working. Looking into the mirror, I realised my blue eye had turned a very cloudy grey. Five hours later I was in A&E with a ruptured cornea. I was blind in one eye. I was gifted a donor cornea five months later and, all these years on, I never take my vision for granted. A dead man’s cornea… one of the greatest gifts/objects I own.
