Holly

from : Oakham, Rutland, UK

personal object : a horseshoe pendant

This horseshoe pendant was an 18th birthday present, given to me by my grandmother. The horseshoe represents my family background as we are involved with horses and my grandfather was a respected radio and TV commentator. I wear my pendant most places I go. I like having it because it’s very sentimental; it reminds me of my grandmother - and horseshoes are considered to be lucky.

chosen artwork : Rusty Mirage (The City Skyline)    Kiluanji Kia Hendra, 2013

To me, this piece represents the building blocks of a family and a relationship. I can closely link the family representation to the relationship between my granny and I – and also to family values.
