Helena

from : Hammersmith, UK

personal object : a necklace

This necklace was given to me by my nan for my 18th birthday. The stone in it is opal, which is my birthstone. I don’t wear much jewellery, but I wear this necklace everyday because it reminds me of my responsibility as a grown woman, and also of my roots in my wonderful, loving family.

chosen artwork : Whose Utopia?    Cao Fei, 2006

To me, this piece represents multiplicity. Reality, dreams and the imagined space in-between exist within all of us, but usually only one of these is perceived by the casual onlooker. This piece explores the three-dimensionality of those whose reality reveals little.
