Georgia

from : Liverpool, UK

personal object : a gold ring with a white silhouette of a woman (a remembered object – no image)

My grandma had lots of jewellery in a box. When I was growing up, every Monday I would help her change her earrings and would ask her what each ring she wore was for, or what it meant. When she became ill, and was deciding what to do with her jewellery, she asked me to keep what I called her “Cinderella earrings” and her cameo ring.

I feel a deep connection to Liverpool and have a lot of Scouse pride. Every story from every individual talks of what they have brought to Liverpool, and individuality is a big part of what makes Liverpool. The difference in the treasured objects – from old jewellery to bus passes and family – quickly shows the different personalities of the people taking part.
