from : New Zealand

personal object : a wedding ring

My husband gave me my wedding ring on our wedding day, 24th May 2015. It was specially designed to fit snugly around my engagement ring. This is our second marriage, for both of us, to a fellow Christian this time. Both our wedding rings have the verse Ecclesiastes 4:12 ‘A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.’  For both of us it is important to have God at the centre of our marriage, and he has richly blessed us in this union.

chosen artwork : Chicago, Board of Trade II    Andreas Gursky, 1999

I have chosen this work because it is frantic and busy and colourful like I can be, however, it optimises seeking wealth and money, which is the opposite of what I believe we should be doing with our lives.

My wedding ring - representing both my marriage and our relationship with God at the centre - brings peace, calm and contentment to counter the frantic, busy way of the world. It is a reminder to be grateful and content with what we are blessed with, not always striving for more.
