Simaf

from : Syria

personal object : a watch

This is my watch from my auntie. She gave it to me when I was two years old. I brought it with me when I left my country because of the war. The special thing about it is that I didn’t realise it was on my arm in all the chaos. I wear my watch a lot and it reminds me of my auntie. I will keep it forever, even if it breaks.

chosen artwork : The Pilots’ Jetty, Le Havre, Morning, Cloudy and Misty Weather   Camille Pissarro, 1903

This is how my country was - people were there, and my house and my family. Then, when the war was going on in Syria, I came here. It is a nice painting; it makes me remember.
