Erin

from : Suffolk, UK

personal object : six souvenir coins

Two of my coins are from Germany and four are from the UK. My favourite was bought in Dusseldorf, when I was meeting a friend for the first time. Others are from: the Dinosaur Park in Norfolk (full of nostalgia and childhood memories); Edinburgh Museum of Optical Illusion (reminds me of my Dad); the Black Forest in Germany (bought on a family holiday); Manchester Museum and, finally, the one I bought for myself today here in Liverpool!

chosen artwork : Chicago, Board of Trade II    Andreas Gursky, 1999

I have chosen this artwork because it is documenting the everyday and the ordinary. I have a background in photography so it makes the piece even more intriguing. I don’t know where to look – the focus differs in it - there is so much going on in the piece and there is more action in certain places than in others. The work mimics ‘the everyday’, and makes us see something interesting in the mundane.
