Nilüfer

from : Turkey

personal object : a necklace

I bought this necklace two months ago from a summer holiday resort called Kas. It had been a rough year for me. Stressful days at work and the deadline of my thesis made me quite nervous. I also ended my longest ever relationship and I left my job. I presented my thesis, planned a journey for the summer and healed myself without having the need for support from someone else. When I was in Kas, it was all over. So that necklace, with trees and birds on it, is my gift to myself, for turning into someone I really love to be.

chosen artwork : 3069 White Dots on an Oval Background    Pol Bury, 1966

This artwork is about the ‘aesthetic of slowness’. That’s something I recognised this year and I’m very grateful for it. I saw that, when I slow things down, they become more clear to understand, and you don’t have to make ‘big moves’ in life to realise what’s going on. Yoga and meditation helped me a lot to teach myself: “No rush; everything will be alright.” This artwork reminded me of going with the flow.
