personal objects : a wedding ring and a silver locket

I have worn my mother’s wedding ring since her death in 2013. It is a daily connection to her. The silver locket was a Christmas present from my parents when I was 14. I had kept it, but not worn it, for years until my mother’s death in 2013. The locket connects me to my whole family and teenage years; I first wore it to my brother’s engagement party.

chosen artwork : The Beached Margin    Edward Wadsworth, 1937

This painting reminds me of family seaside holidays – and my personal objects remind me of growing up in my family.
