personal object : a black cat ring    (a remembered object, no image)

I bought my black cat ring with my sister and my mom. Actually, my ring matches two other rings – one belongs to my sister and the other to my mom – and they all feature a black cat. They are very simple and they were very cheap. It was an idea that came into our minds just hours before I boarded the plane to travel and study far away from home for a long time. We are very close and the rings are a way to stay connected, no matter the distance.

chosen artwork : Bursting Shell    Christopher Richard Wynne Nevinson, 1955

This painting reminds me of the whole of my trip. At the beginning, being far away from my country and my family made me feel alone and strange, like an alien. But my mother and sister were always with me - that small, simple and funny cat ring was what made me feel strong and, in a dark world, I could see the light and start the real adventure.
